Introducing......Nineva Vaitupu

Fa’atālofa atu le pa’ia ma mamalu ua aofia, tainane mā’ave ‘ese’ese. Mālō le soifua ma le Lagi e mamā.

Professional Experience:

I have been working in local government for the past 14 years with various roles to help our environment and local communities with services across a range of departments.

My current role at Dunedin City Council is 3 Waters Network Service Team Leader. I am the contract manager for our Maintenance and Reactive work within Dunedin City boundaries. Other contracts I have managed within Dunedin City Council is the Kerbside recycling and refuse collection. I have also held management roles at Otago Regional Council where I managed the Flood Schemes, River networks and State of the Environment Data collection and reporting.

I was co-opted onto the Board in January 2020 and became a member of the Property Committee for King’s High School. At the beginning of 2022, I transitioned to Chair the Property Committee succeeding previous Board Chair, David Booth.

Working with the current Board has been an honour to support King’s through its many successes. Such projects are in construction of the Maori Whare which will open in Term 3, while supporting the upgrade of the Gym into a high-performance area.

About Me:

I am a passionate King’s Old Boy who is wanting to give back to the school that gave me the foundation for success in my tertiary education and later in my professional career.

My wife Gemma and I have three sons. Two of which attend King’s High School. Orlando who is the current Head Boy, and Jeremiah in Year 10. Our youngest son Phoenix is currently in Year 6 at St Clair School.

Both Gemma and I fully support our boys in a wide range of activities, academic, sporting or culturally.

Attributes:

My professional experience in Contract Management has required me to engage effectively with many individuals from varying backgrounds and across a wide range of disciplines. I bring strong critical decision making and governance with my previous involvement of the Board, but also within Local Government positions.

I am passionate about King’s and the success of our school. It is a privilege to continue the great success of ensuring our boys realise their full potential – "Building Men for Life".
