On Saturday, June 22nd, the King's A and B Chess teams competed in the Otago Regional Secondary School Chess Championships.

Our A team, of Conor Kerr (1), Samuel Mitchell (2), Connor Gray (3) and Raymond Yang (4) placed second. This placed us ahead of Logan Park High School (LPHS) A, who regularly win the competition - but behind LPHS B, who upset their A team to take first place. Our A team, who won more individual games than any other team, missed out on a trip to nationals by half a match point.

Samuel Mitchell and Raymond Yang both received Top Player Awards for their board positions. Oliver Lee (1) and Henry Zhong (2) also played very well for the B team, winning most of their games, playing at the top of the field.
