Hockey win leads to 3rd Otago title in a row for King's Hockey

Dave Conrad —

Congratulations to the King's High School 1st XI Hockey Team on its 2-0 win over John McGlashan College 1st XI on Tuesday night before a large and boisterous crowd at the Alexander McMillan Turf.

King's dominated right from the outset and were very composed amid all the hype and noise of the final. The support from both schools provided plenty of colour and energy to befit the occasion and was a credit to both schools.

King's led 1-0 at halftime and closed out the game scoring another goal to give them the 2-0 win and, although they missed a few late opportunities, the team always appeared to be in complete control of the match.

This was a fitting end to another unbeaten season along with claiming the 3rd consecutive Otago Secondary Schools title in a row.

The team now prepares itself to compete in the NZ Secondary Schools top tournament the "Rankin Cup" in Tauranga during Winter Tournament Week. We wish Mr Ross and all the boys the best for a successful trip.
