Music Department excels over the weekend

Jo Harford —

It's been a massive week for the staff and students in the Music Department. With Rockquest (see separate article), the Big Sing and a Chamber Music competition, the pressure has been on everyone.

At the Big Sing both choirs performed; Polyhymnia (Queen's and King's combined), and Acafellas (the King's Choir). Both groups shone with enthusiasm and entertained a very appreciative audience. They also both received a Commended Award at the event.

It was a great day and evening and they learnt a lot. Both groups are in a rebuilding phase after several Year 13s left last year, so this event was a steep learning curve for many.

On Sunday,  “Breakfast Foods at Non- Breakfast Times” consisting of Alec Rogers, Luke Otley, Kennedy Templer and Hayden Smith   performed at the Chamber Music  Competition. Although they did not win an award, they played with real passion and put on an excellent performance.

We'd like to thank all of the boys from the Music department who represented King's at the weekend and also the staff, especially Ms Dryden, Ms White and Mr Gavriel for their time, effort and energy. None of this would have happened without your passion and enthusiasm.
