Good Man Evening enjoyed by all.

Jo Harford —

Now in its 11th year, the Good Man Evening was enjoyed by many Year 9 students and their 'significant male' on Tuesday.

Initiated in 1996 by then Assistant Principal Noel Johnston, the Good Man Evening aims to encourage and nurture relationships between our younger students in the school and a "significant male in their lives." The idea came to Mr Johnston after the late Celia Lashlie came to King's and discussed her research into the education and socialisation of young men.

Senior students relish the opportunity to test their leadership skills by running activities, and the Year 9 students, along with their significant male, have the opportunity to bond and enjoy each others' company.

The event is run with the help of Mark Faed from One-80 Degrees South.  Both King’s High School and Mark believe that helping to grow young men into great men involves a number of different aspects, and one of these is the input of a significant male in their lives. Mark has been involved since its inception and is a strong supporter of the philosophy that underpins the event.
