Three King's students collect two Bronze Medals and nine Personal Bests at the Nationals

Dan Harvey —

In week four of this term William McFarlane, Noah Brummitt and Alfie Weatherston-Harvey travelled to Hawkes Bay for the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Championships.

William was up against it, having recently moved into the highly competitive 15 years age group with Noah and Alfie. He swam well and set a new personal best for the 1500m Freestyle and was right on his best times for the 800m, 400m and 100m Freestyle.

Noah set new personal best times for the 50m Butterfly, 50m and 100m Freestyle coming 5th and 6th respectively in the Freestyle events.

Alfie won Bronze medals for the 400m and 1500m Freestyle, was 4th in the 800m Freestyle, 5th in the 400 Individual Medley, and 6th in the 50m and 200m Backstroke and the 200m Freestyle, all in new personal best times. His 1500m time ranked him 7th in the open age group and would have won gold as a 16 year old.

Noah and Alfie both represented Kiwi Swim Club in a mixture of relays, placing between 10th and 14th in the open age group which was an impressive feat with a 14 year old and two 15 year olds in the team.
