Careers are like a Mystery Box

Rachel Campbell —

Unserious Careers Presentation

Our Year 12 and 13 students were buzzing with inspiration after an unforgettable session with Alana Kilmartin — founder of Unserious Careers and a powerhouse voice in youth career development.

Alana captivated the room as she shared her own career journey — complete with bold moves, big lessons, and even a few questionable hairstyles along the way. Drawing from her book and real-life experiences, she challenged students to think bigger, broader, and braver about their futures.

One standout message? Careers are like mystery boxes — sometimes you have to open a few before you discover the one that truly fits. It was a powerful reminder that exploration isn’t just okay — it’s essential.

Students left feeling energised, empowered, and ready to create their own epic career paths. To learn more about Alana and her work, visit: https://unseriouscareers.com/

A huge thank you to Dean Delany and the team at Platinum Recruitment for generously sponsoring this fantastic opportunity for our students.
