King's Student Shines Brightly at Ngā Manu Kōrero

Isaac Hensman —

Last Thursday, the Ōtākou/Murihuku Ngā Manu Kōrero Speech competition was held at the Dunedin Town Hall. Students from across Otago and Southland competed in both English and Māori categories.

Over 20 students from King’s attended to observe the speeches and support our speaker Zane Rakete-Gray, who performed in the Junior Māori category (Te Rāwhiti Ihaka). Zane enthralled the audience with a very animated and physical speech on his transition from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ōtepoti to King’s High School. Zane won his category and will perform in the National competition, which will be hosted in Dunedin in September. Ka rawe Zane!
