The Great Escape - Book Week 2022 - was amazing...

Debbie Vercoe —

Book week 2022 was a huge hit.... well done to Mrs Vercoe.  The Library was buzzing every day with exciting events.

Monday’s Murder Mystery challenged the students to look for clues to solve the mystery. There were many interesting theories, but three students cracked it!

Tasty Tuesday tempted the students with treats provided by some members of the Book Gang and Mrs Cromarty’s Year 11 Food and Nutrition class. It was a very good day to be in the Library.

Worldly Wednesday saw a wonderful celebration of the “International” mix of students at King’s. We learned some key phrases in several languages and some of us even tried to write our names in a different language. Thank you to the International Department for contributing to the success of the day.

Thriving Thursday encouraged us all to think about what makes us thrive. Students added leaves to the “Thriving Tree” and it was great to see such a range of ideas being shared. The Mindfulness session at lunchtime was very enlightening and made for a relaxing time.

We also had a visit from the Enviro Group, who shared their philosophy and passion for the environment. It was great to hear about the initiatives and projects that they have been involved in. They encouraged students to join the group and extended an invitation to attend their Friday Interval meetings.

Fictional Friday had not happened at the time of writing this report, however, there was much excitement, anticipation and trepidation as the teams were being assembled for the Inaugural Interhouse Literary Quiz. The results of which will be published in next week’s edition of King’s Week, along with the overall winners of the prizes.

The PTSA sponsored reading challenge will run to the end of the term. The uptake on this has been amazing.

Overall, a great week and it was pleasing to see so many students making the most of the chances to participate and enjoy being in the Library.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the small group of enthusiastic students who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make The Great Escape such a success.
