"Books Galore"

Debbie Vercoe —

King’s High School PTSA generously donated $1,000 to enable the students 'wish list' to be met.

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTSA who recently donated $1,000.00 to the Library for the purchase of new books.

This extremely generous and timely donation has allowed me to buy many of the books on the students’ “wish list”.

There is something for everyone here, from Stephen King to Morris Gleitzman; John Boyne to Elif Shafak. Many of these titles are additions to series or latest releases and award- winning publications. They will be very well received by the students, once they are catalogued, covered and on the shelves.

We are very grateful for this wonderful support to the Library and to reading.

I hope, like me, that many of you were able to spend some of your lock down time, reading. I enjoyed having the time to make excellent progress on my pile of “must-reads” and I’m looking forward to making recommendations.

Before we went into Alert Level 4, I sent out reminders to students who have overdue books. Thank you to those who have returned books this week and I look forward to receiving many more in the coming days.

It is great to see students back in the Library and filling the space with a happy buzz.

Remember that:

“Books allow you to be somewhere else when you have to be where you are.”

Happy Reading
