Cursey Adie-Cropley —

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope 2021 has been good to you and that you made the gains you were seeking this year.

King’s continues to go from strength to strength, both in and out of the classroom. In July we proudly added the new high – spec Hockey Turf to the school, with official opening by the Honourable Grant Robertson. Our partnership with Otago Hockey will give the city great new sporting options and meet our day to day need for high quality Sport and Physical Education.

We have also secured, and celebrated, the boys’ superb achievement across academics, arts, culture and sport throughout 2021, while building more capacity to excel, and to keep it all going!

King’s is increasingly cementing its presence on the national stage in Education with worthy recognition in new quarters. The roll is increasing, and this is rightly seen as strong endorsement for how we’re bringing the boys’ through effectively, for their personal excellence.

Looking forward, King’s is advancing its Gym upgrade in 2022, and we have the arrival of the Te Whaitua Maori renovation for a dedicated new cultural space. There is also the next phase of Junior enrichment on the way as we begin to prepare our Junior Scholars’ Academy. The Sport Academies and High – Performance environments are generating exciting new sporting talent, and attracting even more, as we enter 2022. And yes, the First XV is looking very competitive for 2022. We’ll strive to win the Otago – Southland final and to then take a shot at defeating the top Crusader Competition school, for South Island supremacy.

The Charitable Trust is an important means for us to realise future aspirations, as we gather support from those outside the school who hold a keen interest in King’s health, wealth, development and competitive edge. Thank you for your ongoing support.

From the ranks of our Trustees Taryn Gudmanz, and Chair, Trevor McKinlay, have stepped down, and so we have new opportunity for anyone who may wish to get a little closer to the action in 2022. Please let me know if you would like to be part of steering the Trust. We thank Trevor and Taryn whole- heartedly for all their valuable contributions to optimising King’s for our boys.

Have a fantastic and well – deserved break.
