New Zealand International Biology Olympiad (NZIBO)

Teresa Robertson —

Three King's boys were selected to take part in the NZIBO Examination.

The exam questions were based on a wide variety of Biology topics.  The exam assumes only basic biological knowledge and tests thinking and problem-solving skills, not just curriculum specific knowledge.

It is similar to the ICAS Science Exam but highlights current biological research in New Zealand and is designed as an active exam with high interest and a strong learning component.  NZIBO fosters excellence in Biology through the participation of secondary school students in the New Zealand Biology Olympiad Programme.

Well done to:

  • Thomas Bowen
  • Max Mackle
  • Taydden Naidoo

The examination is aimed at Year 12 students with an interest in Biology and who would like to be considered for selection for the New Zealand team.  This is just the start of the process but a strong beginning by the boys.  Well done.
