Year 9 student Kairangi was selected for the Otago Junior Interprovincial Golf Team.

He was selected on his good performance in the ANZ Private 36-hole Wanaka Open on the 4th of September, He finished in Runner-up position in Division 2, which is for all players on handicaps (2-9) and is an Open Men's event, shooting rounds of 78 and 75. The event is one of many Otago Order of Merit events in which attracts the top golfers in the region. 

The Otago Interprovincial Junior (normally include four U19 players and two U16 players) team will compete from October 2 – 7th in Cambridge, Waikato in a match-play format.
