Player Profile this week is Jaxon Harvey

Know your players!

Our King's 1st Touch profile this week is Year 12 Student, Jaxon Harvey. A fierce competitor on many fronts, Jaxon is also a Rugby man having learnt his craft out on the Taieri as a junior, before joining the King’s Lions Rugby Club. In 2022 Jaxon was part of the King’s 1st XV as well as being in his second year of the 1st Touch Team. A Representative Touch Player, Jaxon is also a very successful Karter having competed in Provincial and National Karting championships from a very young age. At last years Nationals, held in Invercargill, the talented young man finished 2nd in his grade at the Kartsport National Schools competition. We look forward to seeing more success from Jaxon this year, as a student and sportsman. Jaxon is our third players profile.

Shirley Boys' High School Interschool (Monday 13th March)

After leaving the Southland Boys' on three losses last week, it was good to get some much needed positive results against Shirley Boys'. The King’s boys kept up the speed and tempo of the game that at times put a very physical Shirley Boys' team on the back foot. Some great footwork by our experienced senior boys (J. Cook and I. Kramers) allowed King’s to plug away tries through the middle. The wet conditions meant King’s had to complete their sets, be patient and wait for Shirley Boys' to turn over the ball. When we did this, we were able to score out wide through slick hands, sending our wingers for tries in the corners. We look forward to continuing the great work at the South Island Touch Tournament next week in Christchurch, with a full contingent.
