On Tuesday, we kicked off the four-week Otago Secondary Schools’ Cross Country series with the Logan Park Road Race. 

King’s took a team of 19 runners ably led by team Captain Xavier Donnelly. It was great to have many runners back from last year but particularly pleasing to welcome five debutants. 

Conditions looked great until a short downpour resulted in relatively tough conditions underfoot with a lot of runners finding ninety-degree turns particularly challenging. 

While we didn’t feature on the podium, there were some pleasing results: 

• Joshua Scott, Dan Kelleher and Zak Chisholm placed 6th, 7th and 8th in the Junior Race while Hugh Jack and Shelby Thomson came in 5th and 6th in the Senior Race. 

Well done to the Otago Boys’ runners who put in a dominant display overall and we look forward to hosting the next event of the series – the Caversham Relays - here at King’s.
