Music Technology

Kaine Harington —

This week the Year 13 Music Technology class migrated over to the King's Performing Arts Center for their Piano Recording Workshop, one of the many workshop lessons that builds towards their individual Recording Project Assessments.

For this assessment, students need to plan, record, engineer and produce an EP of three songs that will be fit for release.

With a number of keen and able Pianists in the class looking to make high quality recordings of pianos as part of their project, the decision was made to practice recording the Grand Piano in the PAC.

Emmanuel Keane volunteered to perform, and the class experimented with five different microphone setups while discussing the pros and cons of each.

With students already having undertaken workshops on recording Drums, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar and Acoustic Guitar this term, expect to hear some professional-quality recordings coming out of our studio in Term 3.
