This week our Junior Debating Team, consisting of Sam Blackwood, Cam Fraser and Jaydean Washington won this year’s Dunedin Schools Junior Debating Competition and Sam was awarded 2nd Best Speaker of the whole competition.

Preliminary rounds every other Wednesday afternoon during terms two and three saw us finish in fourth place, and qualifying for the finals for the first time. 

 In the semi-final against Columba College on Wednesday evening, we successfully negated the proposition that Home Schooling should be Banned. This win got us into the finals an hour later, and up against another very strong Columba College team, where we were able to convince the judges that Parliamentary Representation should be split equally between Men and Women. 

The win was an excellent outcome for our talented young team who have all grown in confidence and skill as the year has progressed.
