Rockquest 2019

Kaine Harrington —

King's High School Band M.C.S competed at both the Smokefree Rockquest Regional Heats and the Smokefree Tangata Beats Regional Finals.

They performed their two songs with a calm confidence and let the quality of their songwriting shine through to the audience and judges. They were rewarded for their efforts by being put through to the Smokefree Rockquest Regional Finals held last weekend, where they were awarded first place for the Smokefree Tangata Beats Competition, (performances including elements of Maori and/or Pasifika culture). The next step for the band in the Tangata Beats Competition, is to produce a video to be judged alongside other regional winners, from which the top 12 will be chosen to compete in Auckland at the national finals.

M.C.S are Te Kahurangi McLean (Vocals), Faitonu Matamua (Guitar), CJ Henry (Guitar), Christian Fogavai (Bass) and Nathaniel Strange (Drums).

King's was also ably represented at the Smokefree Rockquest Competition by Tinsy Pam (featuring Jacob Roos and Gregor Clarkson), Funk-A-Rama (Josh Tuiavii, Marc Gregor, Cody Jowsey, Aidan McDermott and Ryan McCleery) and Ben Horlock (Solo).
