Army Reserves

A webinar is being held on Tuesday 15th March at 6pm for anyone interested in joining the Army Reserves.

Year 13 school leavers who are not already considering a career in the NZ Defensive Force (NZDF) could benefit from attending the webinar.

Be they going onto further education or entering the workforce after finishing school, they could earn up to $10,500 this summer by completing their Reserve Force Basic Training* and Corps Training, as well as securing ongoing, paid part-time employment with the NZDF (*this training would clash with some students’ NCEA exams but how this could be mitigated will be discussed in the webinar).

See the attached PDF for more information and a QR Code to attend the meeting.

Countdown Part-time Work Opportunities

You will be aware that COVID-19 is continuing to cause problems for many people in our communities.

One that you may have experienced yourself, and that has the potential to cause distress for some people, including those that might be aged or disabled, is staff shortages in supermarkets.

This is leading to un-stocked shelves and service or delivery delays - all stressful for some people.

Work-ready students can apply for part-time paid work in their local Countdown store. Students will be paid the starting wage of $20.40 per hour ($21.20 when the New Zealand minimum wage increase comes into effect on the 1st April 2022). This employment is only for part-time, paid work outside school hours.

Students can register online at www.ServiceIQ.org.nz/work There is more information there about this initiative too.
