Octacan 2023

James McPherson —

For the last two weeks, the students of King’s High School have been collecting cans in their group classes to donate towards the annual Octacan Can Drive, organised by Presbyterian Support Otago.

The Student Council organised and promoted this event, and after counting all the cans and sorting them into categories, delivered them on behalf of the school to the Octagon on Thursday 22nd June.

Members of the Student Council then spent almost two hours in the Octagon, helping to sort and organise the other cans donated to this worthy cause.

Now more than ever, it is important that we do our part to support our wider Dunedin community.

The Student Council would like to thank everyone that donated cans. In particular we would like to thank Bailey Gray from TGi who donated 227 cans, and Declan Viljoen from WHi who brought in a spectacular 625 cans. This level of generosity cannot be understated. We would also like to thank Seva Solomatenko for designing our posters.
