Going to University?

Study Link —

Students often have questions about Student Loans, Allowances and Scholarships. There are lots of online tools which can assist them in finding out whether they are eligible for Allowances or Scholarships, which go a long way towards answering questions they may have.

Are you thinking about tertiary study next year? Sign up to StudyLink's 'starting out' emails and get all the information you need about Student Allowances and Loans.

Keeping debt down - Aside from the Student Loan, there's a lot of other ways students can support themselves while studying, which can all help to keep the debt down.

Scholarships - There are thousands of Scholarships available for all levels of study and for many reasons, not just for high grades. givMe is a scholarship database with more than 4,000 scholarships and awards for individuals. King’s students can access this for free from any computer or device at school. See Ms Schaumann for details. Look on the websites of the institution you are applying to for information about Scholarships. Most of the entrance Scholarships for new students close on 15th August, so get busy applying now.

Student Allowance - A weekly payment to help with living expenses that students don't have to pay back.

Part-time work - Working while they study could mean students might not have to borrow as much, or anything at all.

Help from family - Some families may be willing and able to support them while studying.

Check out our how to pay for study page for more information on the above funding options for students.
