King's student hits rare double eagle

Jo Barnsdale —

Early December last year Joshua Scott was playing Golf at the St Clair Golf Course with his Dad when he completed the 8th hole with a par 4 albatross. Often called a "double eagle," an albatross occurs when a golfer completes a hole three strokes under its designated par.

On this particular evening Joshua's Golf ball covered 274 metres in one stroke. He said the strong downwind made the hole play shorter but added that the chances of making a hole-in-one on a par 3 are 12500/1 and the chances on a par 4 are 6,000,000/1.

"I couldn't believe it in the moment and still feels crazy to think about it to this day".

Recently, Australian 19-year-old Minjee Lee, scored a rare albatross on the 275-yard par-four 16th at the LPGA Tour's Kia Classic.
