A refreshingly recognisable Term 3

Nick McIvor —

It’s been a busy term. Looking back over our calendar it’s both uplifting and reassuring to see what’s transpired; all that’s come and gone.

We’ve done very well to bring the best of a typical King’s Term 3 to the boys – all things considered. In comparison with Terms 1 and 2 it’s been refreshing; not only carrying the hallmarks of a typical Term 3 but feeling much like one too.

Thank you to all the staff, parents and other community supporters who have made it so. There’s been gaps to close, and some still remain, but the pursuit of personal excellence, most especially in academics, and in gaining qualities of good men in the making, has persisted. It’s been an outstanding term because it’s been outstandingly normal!

The challenges of Terms 1 and 2 directed us even more to what really matters and what ought to be prioritised in Term 3: knowing our boys to meet their needs; renewal of uninterrupted sequences of achievement; reiteration of core values and reliable routines; and retention of competitions, celebrations, and ceremonies that galvanise us.

To all the boys who committed to their education tremendously in Term 3; well done. Your following of the teachers’ lead and building of your strengths and interests, will provide a strong finish to 2022.

I also congratulate you for the warm and constructive spirit you’ve exhibited around the school; even during the depths of Winter. Whether in class, while maneuvering a handball on the asphalt or a pen in an exam, when participating in good daily contests, or simply chatting to people around the Quad, the school spirit’s been really good. Your optimism and positivity have made for a great tone and mood each day. Keep zeroing in on being better than before. Stay fixed on acquiring new knowledge and skills and additions to your character and the King’s way.
