Our King’s and Queen’s combined Big Band performed with passion.

The annual Youth Jazz Festival was held last Friday 30th and Saturday 31st July in the Otago Boys' High School Auditorium. Local high schools were well represented, and it was an enjoyable day of music-making for all. This year saw a greater number of schools participating and a high standard of playing.

The competition was divided into two categories.

1. Queen Bee and the Swing King’s – our King’s and Queen’s combined Big Band presented a well-rehearsed programme featuring jazz-rock, swing and a ballad.
2. Our fabulous King’s combo entertained with two well-received, contrasting charts. 

Our very own Nikhil Rawat took out the ‘Best Baritone Saxophone’ Award and Queen Bee and the Swing King’s earned runner-up in the Big Band category.
