Welcome to our International Students

International Department —

In 2023 our students have come from Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, Argentina and South Africa.

We are very thankful that our students have been placed with amazing host families that make their stay with us truly memorable.  A big thanks to our King's community for supporting our international students and hosting them.

The Head Boy and Prefects were quick to welcome our new students in 2023.

Introductions

In March we enjoyed a fantastic welcome by the Mayor of Dunedin Jules Radich at the Puketeraki Marae.  We had a special morning at the Marae where several King's students who had never been on a marae were able to experience a pōwhiri.

Special thanks to our very own Matu Pene who was the speaker on behalf of the visitors at the pōwhiri.

In 2023, Dunedin City is continuing to embrace the return of international students.

The University of Otago International Department led by Jason Cushen is to be congratulated for continuing to reward international students for enrolling in Dunedin secondary schools. International students attending secondary schools will be offered a guaranteed place at the University of Otago.

"We are also pleased to advise that as an international student at King's High School you will have a guaranteed place at the University of Otago when you apply for any general undergraduate degree programme (excludes restricted programmes), if you are successfully awarded University Entrance on completion of your studies with us."

This offer is hugely important to our international students in planning their future pathways and supporting Otago.

We will continue to look forward to sharing some of the international students' journeys and adventures during 2023.
