The formal black Lavalava was worn by students at King's last Friday

Jope Tudreu —

It was Tongan Language Week and students were allowed to wear the black formal Lavalava called Tupenu, and fortunate for us, those boy's agreed to be photographed!

Pictured above from left to right is Year 9 Waqalau Daunitoko, Year 13 Weshavan Evile, Year 9 students Atunaisa Maiono, Siaki Ramsay and Alex Fosita, and Year 10 Michael Aitcheson.

Also worn by Siaki Ramsay was a Ta'ovala which is the traditional Mat or Tapa Cloth that's worn outside and around the Tupenu. It is then tied with a coconut fibre string called the Kafa.
