After school on Wednesday Arlie McCormick, Vocal Tutor at the University of Otago, spent an hour and a half with the boys from ACafellas teaching techniques to enhance vocal production and sound quality.

The staff and boys really enjoyed Arlie’s energy and expertise during her practical workshop, which covered warm ups, engaging abdominal muscles, breath control, correct singing stance and sound placement in the mouth. 

She also spent some time teaching about ‘fricatives’ (not a swear word!!!) and how much they can assist and enhance sound quality and tunefulness. By the end of the workshop the boys had increased their vocal ranges, improved breath control, tunefulness and had a more united sound.
