The team of eight King's High senior Drama students performed scenes from the NZ play Shuriken by Vincent O'Sullivan.

Our presentation consisted of a selection of hard-hitting scenes that explored issues of racism, colonisation, and masculinity during WW2, depicting a group of NZ soldiers who worked as prison wardens in a POW Camp near Featherston. They performed with sincerity and skill, holding the audience throughout the piece as they portrayed the differing situations and conflicts.

The team walked away with two 'Excellence in Acting' awards for Daniel Honey and Cullan Rolton, as well as very positive feedback from the assessor and audience. 

A new 'first' for King's Drama as these students entered the competition, organised rehearsals and scenes, and performed to a very high standard. Congratulations, boys.

The Otago Theatre Fest was held at the Playhouse Theatre on Albany St on August 7. 

This festival is open to all-comers, including secondary schools, university groups, and local repertory societies.
