Game of Throws: King's seize a Netball victory over OGHS

Massimo Pezzuto —

King's High School pulled off a notable victory in the Netball game last Friday with a score of 22-09. Well, at least that's what the scoreboard said! You see, it appears the girls decided to add a little flair to the afternoon by employing some creative mathematics in the photo. But hey, who's counting anyway? (Oh wait, we are!)

The court was a buzz, and we're not just talking about the umpire's whistle! The atmosphere was electrifying, and it was clear that both teams were out to have fun, even if that meant bending the laws of mathematics.

The supporters on the sidelines deserve a round of applause. They weren't content with the usual "Go team!" or "Defence, defence!" chants but creative posters and slogans that took it to a whole new level. The enthusiasm was undeniable on both the court and sidelines!

The 'Game of Throws' was a true display of sportsmanship and teamwork. Players from both teams participated with enthusiasm and coordination. Graceful intercepts, occasionally followed by stumbling landings, added moments of both skill and humour. Some star players from both teams shone with their exceptional abilities.

However, the true highlight was the cohesive teamwork displayed throughout the match. Players cheered each other on, celebrated successes, and demonstrated sportsmanship. Beyond the playful scoreboard antics, the game embodied the spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.

Ultimately, it was an afternoon of laughter, fun, and some number magic. Who knew that a Netball game could be so entertaining on and off the court? King's High School may have won the game, but the real winners were everyone who witnessed this hilarious display of sportsmanship and creativity.

A huge thank you to Mr. Fielding for transporting us safely to Otago Girls’ High School and back, as well as his support, coaching and enthusiastic cheers from the sideline, which undoubtedly fuelled our team's spirit during the game. Lastly, a big shout out to Otago Girls’ High School for being exceptional hosts of this animated Netball battle!
