King's Surfers in the holidays
The April school holidays saw the completion of the SISA (South Island Surfing Association) Grom’ series at Kaikoura.
Jack Higgins placed 3rd in the U16 boys final. Kalani Summerton finished 4th in the U14 boys final and Flint Sherborne-France finished seventh-equal. Keo Morrison performed best in the U18 boys division where he finished tenth-equal.
The SISA Grom series is based over the best three out of four events held at Dunedin, Westport, Christchurch and Kaikoura.
Flint Sherborne-France ended up winning the SISA Grom Series for the U14 boys division for 2023-24. Kalani Summerton ended up 3rd overall. Jack Higgins ended up 2nd overall in the U16’s boys division and Keo Morrison ended up 6th overall. These boys will be awarded their trophies at the completion of the Cold Water Classic held at Kaikoura over King’s Birthday weekend.
The Canterbury Men’s champs were held over the weekend of the 26th & 27th April. Kalani Summerton was placed 1st in the U14’s and Flint Sherborne-France was placed 4th. Jack Higgins was also placed 1st in the U16 boys division.
The Surfing NZ Grom series has also been going on all year. The final ranking is based on surfers best four events from right across New-Zealand. There have been events at Mount Maunganui, Whangamata, Piha, Christchurch, Kaikoura and Dunedin.
Currently in the U14’s division Flint Sherborne-France is placed 4th and Kalani Summerton is placed 5th in New Zealand. In the U16’s division Jack Higgins is currently 4th and Keo Morrison is 7th. In the U18 division Lewis Murphy is currently 8th.
