King's singers perform for Festival

Kris White + Nikhil Rawat —

ACafellas were involved in the Dunedin Arts Festival in the first weekend of the holidays. The Java Dance Company of Wellington created a trail of dance and music that began and finished in the Octagon and took the audience to Age Concern, the Savoy and an alleyway.

Featured as part of this were special guests, a Brass Band, Aumaga, who are a Samoan Dance Group, members of RASA School of Dance, and a school choir.

We really weren't sure what to expect and it was a very big commitment, however, being asked to be part of this was an honour and looking back now, we are glad that we took the opportunity. For the five young men who joined about 20 girls, it turned out to be well worth it. Ashane De Silva, Nikhil Rawat, Joe Lydiate, Peter Woodfield, and Semisi Taungapeau performed in five performances in the first weekend of the holidays. Here are Nikhil's words about the experience.

"Performing and taking part in "Secret in your Streets" was truly a unique and amazing experience. Not only was I able to learn new skills and strengthen old ones alongside numerous colleagues and friends that I already knew, but also meet a variety of different groups and was able to take in all the amazing things they showcased as a part of their own act. I'm grateful to have been able to partake in the show and can only say I left the last performance on a real high note; I would gladly do it or similar shows again." - Nikhil Rawat
