King's Bands all make it through to Otago Regional Rockquest Final
Jo Dryden - June 14, 2017
Smokefreerockquest (SFRQ) is an annual music competition for high school bands throughout New Zealand. Bands have seven minutes on stage to perform for an audience and panel of judges. Bands that place first or second at their regional event have the opportunity to submit a 15-minute performance video which is judged by a panel of industry professionals. From these video submissions, 6-10 bands are chosen to compete at the national final. At the national final, the competing bands have eight minutes to perform on stage before the overall winner is announced.
Three bands from King’s entered this year as well as having two other King’s boys entering as members of composite school bands.
It was an excellent evening of entertainment with a great outcome for King’s with Sugarcoated Bullets, Stay at Home Dads, Brain Stew and Bark Like a Dog (composite band) all making it into the Otago Regional Final to play off for the top two places and other awards this coming Saturday 17th June at 7pm.
Tickets for the regional final are available from http://www.nztix.co.nz $20 adult, $10 student.
