Geology all around us

Daniel Bleckinger —

The Year 12 Earth and Space Class had two trips last week. Firstly they went to visit the University of Otago Geology Department where they learned about all the local rocks used to build some of the University's oldest buildings.

Then they met up with some of the Grad Students who showed them what it is like to study Geology and all of the amazing places it can take you.

On Friday we met up with a University Geology Professor who joined us all day on our exploration of the Dunedin Coastline. We learned about at least six different rock types and even got to see deep into the underbelly of the Dunedin Volcano!
