Student Coursing/Pathways Evening

Cursey Adie-Cropley —

On Tuesday 10th August we held a coursing/pathways evening for students moving into the senior school in 2022.

We invited students, parents and caregivers currently in Year 10 to join us in the PAC from 5.30pm for a "What is NCEA?" and "Introduction to Senior Coursing" presentation. This was well attended and many students and parents had the opportunity to start thinking ahead to their NCEA journey as the last cohort to use the existing NCEA system. The opportunity to then meet with staff in the Library to discuss potential courses and future paths was also found to be very useful.

Those already experienced in NCEA as Yr 11's or Yr 12's were invited to meet in the PAC from 6.15pm for a quick summary of their NCEA journey and what was still in store. Additional ideas like financial scholarships and University Entrance were outlined, as were subjects that begin only in Year 12 or 13. We then invited parents, caregivers and students to go across to the Library where any questions could be answered by the subject Heads of Departments as they looked to begin to firm up future coursing options.

For those who were unable to attend the evening, the combined presentation to both groups can be accessed using the following link: https://tinyurl.com/2zef7rrv
