Navigating Teens Years Symposium

Amanda Burke —

The Guiding Pathways and Strategies (GPS) Symposium: Navigating the Teen Years is being hosted by St Hilda's Collegiate School on August 18/19, 2023 and is for all parents, caregivers and educators who support young people.

The GPS Symposium brings together Thought Leaders, experts and specialists who will share their knowledge, research and practical advice.

On Friday, August 18 at 7pm we will open the Symposium with a keynote by Stacey Morrison (Broadcaster) who will address the topic: Cultural Shift and Healing from Our Generation to Our Kids.

On Saturday, August 19, a full day of seminars and workshops will be on offer featuring visiting speakers such as Dr Marc Wilson (NZ Listener columnist, Professor of Psychology at Victoria University) and Caroline Black (NZ Institute of Resilience, Christ's College Director of Wellbeing) alongside a plethora of local talent who will be presenting on topics such as relationships, communication, self-harm, body image, pornography, resilience, nutrition, sport, neurodiversity, alcohol and drug use, spirituality, cybersafety, anxiety, future employment and more. Many of our speakers are top academics and practitioners in their fields and will present their latest research findings, in addition to offering useful, practical tips and advice for supporting our rangatahi through the teenage years.

The GPS Symposium aims to answer all those questions parents/caregivers/educators have about raising and/or working with teenagers. The speakers will provide insights and information relevant to the teenagers of today, and address specific challenges this cohort is facing.

Tickets are available on our website and, due to the generous contributions from our sponsors, we have been able to keep costs to a minimum ($120 to attend all sessions, which includes food and drink).
