King's win despite "dodgy defence"

Nic Brosnahan —

King's won the annual Prefects Netball Match against OGHS by a narrow margin despite a less than effective defensive effort, according to Head Boy Chanse Peita.

On Tuesday the King's Prefects headed up to Otago Girls' High School to play their school Prefects in a game of Netball.

As per usual the boys wore OGHS official Netball uniforms and the girls wore the 1st XV Rugby jerseys. The King’s boys came into the game ignorant about many aspects of the game. This poor preparation lead to sloppy execution and terrible work on defence. This was reflected in the score line after OGHS won the 1st quarter by three points.

After some serious self reflection and a bit more understanding of the game, the boys kicked into gear led by player of the day, D’angelo Wade.  Once we took the lead at the halftime break we never looked back. But OGHS didn’t show up just to wear the jerseys, they came to play, sticking with us the whole way.

Ultimately, determination from the King’s boys led us to a 15-13 victory. Huge thanks to Otago Girls' High School for hosting us and we look forward to the next show down.
