School Council 2019

Samuel Blackwood —

King’s High School’s student-lead School Council has started up again for 2019.

The members of the council for this year are Samuel Blackwood (Chairman), Avi Spiegel (Treasurer), Art Hurring (Secretary), Chris Smith, Aaron Hewson, Sam Judge, Ollie Young, Ben Hawke, Ashwin Rajesh, Blake Carter, Narayan Shastri, Sam Madison, Anh Ha and Jeremy White (Teacher in Charge).

Our Key Activities (2019)

Helping the community

  • Can collections - We will be responsible for coordinating the can collections that will occur later in the year (you’ll hear more about these closer to the time).

  • Street appeals

  • Many other minor initiatives

Providing funding

  • Work day - Work day is a day in Term Two organised by the School Council where students spend a day out working in jobs that they have arranged themselves and are asked to donate $20 to our organisation.

  • Funding individuals and teams - We provide funding to individuals and teams based on our funding policy (below is the link to our application form).

  • Funding major projects around school - We will also be providing funding to two major projects this year that we, through consultation with the student body, identify as being likely to substantially benefit the student body for a number of years.

How Students Can Get Involved

Helping us

  • Work day - As explained earlier, students spend the day working in a job that they have arranged themselves and are asked to donate $20 to our organisation so that we have funds available to use for the benefit the student body.

  • Selling raffle tickets - There is a raffle being held soon that will raise money for the school (proceeds are likely to go towards putting shade sails up around the school and purchasing new bookshelves for the library). More information on this will be released at a later date, but we certainly would appreciate it if students can attempt to sell as many tickets as they can.

  • Volunteering your time - We are always grateful when students from outside the council volunteer their time to help us run the events that we coordinate.

Benefiting from us

  • Suggest major projects for us to fund - As explained earlier, students are welcome to suggest ideas for major projects that our organisation could fund for the benefit of the school. At this time, this should be done by talking with council members.

  • Apply for individual/group funding - Individuals and groups can apply for funding from the School Council by filling out the form at the following link: https://goo.gl/cG74Qx.
