A Week of Sports

Rod Bannister —

We officially sign off from Term 1 and what a whirlwind it has been!

Many of our students will continue to train for their respective codes over the next few weeks whether individually or as part of a team. Rest and recovery is a critical part of sport, this will compliment the quality of your hands-on training sessions. Nowadays this is as vital as the work you do itself.

We've had another very active few weeks signing up students for their Winter codes and good skills to those that are competing over this break and to those that are attending training camps whether that be locally or outside of the region.

Our Water Polo teams played their finals last night at Moana pool and both our Touch and Volleyball programmes have had recent resounding success with some of our teams totally dominating the local competitions.

I'm really looking forward to our Interschool programme in Term 2, seeing you out and about around the various venues.

Enjoy the break with your whānau, take time out to spend with each other, and the Sports Department look forward to seeing you when Term 2 kicks off.

Did you know:

Our esteemed Head Coach of our extremely successful Volleyball programme, Mr Andy Campbell is also part of the Volleyball Otago Board, helping shape and guide the future of this code in the region.

Mr Campbell is recognised as one of the very best coaches in the country giving well over 30 years plus of selfless service to Volleyball at King's High School. He is incredibly passionate about leading, mentoring, and guiding our students equipping them to be great young men and setting them up (no pun intended) to be great humans.

We have an extremely exciting couple of years ahead of us with this programme. We are very grateful and thankful for what he gives to our amazing school.

From the Sports Department to you Mr Campbell, thank you kindly Sir!
