New Basketball Director appointed at King's

Glenn Dickson —

King’s Lions Sport is proud to announce the first Directorship appointment as part of our revised Strategic Plan for 2023-2026.

Mr Alf Arlidge has been appointed Director of Basketball and has begun work immediately with our ballers at the Den.

Mr Arlidge had this to say, “I am extremely happy to return to King's High School as the Director of Basketball. I see this as a great privilege and want to thank Director of Sport, Glenn Dickson for this opportunity. I view King’s as the ideal platform for myself and the coaching team to inspire the next generation of ballers to come out of King’s. Having had my two older sons attend King's and now my youngest I know King’s offers students a very special opportunity to grow and strive for excellence on the Basketball court, sporting arena and classroom”.

We have been exceptionally well led by Mr Sam Fielding and Mr Nic Sullivan as our Teachers-in-Charge of Basketball and we are very fortunate that they will be supporting Mr Arlidge in his new role. Mr Arlidge has extensive experience in Basketball and particularly in the high performance space. This creates a brilliant educational and inspiring experience for our young men. Mr Arlidge also has a strong connection with King’s and cares about the future of our school, sporting and Basketball programmes.

The introduction of Josh Aitcheson, Head Boy 2016, a current Otago Nugget and Richie Roger current Tall Black and NZ 3X3 player is a coup for King's Lions Basketball. Josh will bring a wealth of knowledge about being a high achiever at King's and what it takes to be a Lion. Richie is a current Tall Black and with his knowledge of the game he will be able to guide the boys about what it takes to get to the highest level.
