Chilling message about Mental Health
On Monday, 19 students and one teacher, Mr Turner, completed the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and money for Mental Health.
Joel [Reddiex] and I wanted to raise school awareness about Mental Health, to show the boys that we are here to talk anytime they need and show students we care about each other's well-being.
We also wanted to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, as mental health has a major effect on young teenage boys. Not only was it about us as a school, it’s about showing the community that people are there for them.
Mental illness affects 1 in every 5 people and if we can raise money and awareness to help people or even save a life then all the effort we put in was more than worth it.
Massive thanks to Joe & the team at Envirowaste for the bins and to Harty & the team at Leith Liquor for the ice. Also to Reggie for setting everything up and to Mr Harington for providing the speaker and microphone.
