King's of Dunedin Water Polo

Vicki Jopson —

On Thursday, March 23rd, the King’s Lions played in the final of the Dunedin Water Polo competition against Otago Boys' A Team. Throughout the terms competition, King’s has beat Otago Boys' four out of the five games. The final game started out at a very fast pace and Otago Boys' put the Lions under a bit of pressure, but they could not match King’s fitness.

King’s kept their composure and structure and continued to pull ahead every quarter with a final win of 10 - 1. A highlight was a goal scored by Daniel Wheeler who is the King’s Goalie. He shot it from his goal down to the other end of the pool right on the 3rd quarter buzzer with excellent accuracy.

The King’s Lions will travel to Christchurch on Wednesday March 29th, to compete in the South Island Secondary School Water Polo Tournament. This will run from Thursday March 30th to Sunday April 2nd.
