"King's Ashes"

Michael Reggett —

Captain Joe Ingram accepting the ' Ashes Urn ' from Rector's XI Captain Bradley Scott.

Cricket: - Rector's XI (Staff) v King's 1st XI

Last Friday the King's 1st XI took on the Rector's XI (School Staff) after a two-year absence due to Covid.

The King's 1st XI won the toss & decided to bat first against, to be fair, a very depleted Rector's XI.

Joe Ingram was top scorer in the 20/20 fixture with a knock of 46, he was supported by Jimmy Nicol 23, Jackson Clearwater 18 & Josh Hart 15, to end up 149 for the loss of three wickets.

The Rector's XI bowling attack struggled but Jeremy White's effort of 1/10 off his two overs was impressive while Garry Turner 0/7 of his two overs & Jesse Farry's two overs only cost 11 runs.

The Rector's XI were never really in the chase until Bradley Scott scored 50 not out, which, included seven 6's, a couple dispatched into the Quad & a further three on to the Gym roof. He received great support from Jesse Farry 25, with none of the other batsman able to get to double figures and they were all out for 140. Alex Burleigh 2/5, Oram Gutsell 1/7 & Josh Hart 1/12 were responsible for the King's 1st XI being able to restrict the Rector's XI & win the

' ASHES ' for the first time.

The game was played in great spirit but the usual banter was evident at all times during the game.
