RAW! Festival of the Arts

Jo Harford —

Wednesday night was a celebration of the amazing talent that we have here at King's and an opportunity for our Arts mentors to share the work they had created with students throughout the day.

Performances from our talented students were punctuated with a short talk by each of our mentors where they presented work that they and the students they had worked with, had created. (See article in this edition).

Propaganda posters, flash fiction crime-writing and a beautiful musical performance, all of which were created within 4 hours, were delivered to an appreciative audience.

The evening began with an art exhibition in the foyer where students from Years 10-13 displayed one piece of work each.

The performances began at 7pm with the concert band performing "Don't Stop Me Now". Bryan Frost MC'ed the event and even he was struggling to find superlatives to describe the high standard of talent from; He Waka Kōtuia, King's of the Pacific, ACafellas, the Theatresports troupe, Mitchell Fox and Max McCormick (MacBeth scene), Emmanuel Keane and Rockquest stars, MCS.

Thank you to all staff involved, to our students and to their whanau and friends for coming along. We will see you next year!
