Cross Country competitors head to Milton

Grant Koedyk —

We had a group of seven teams of four competing in this event, with some good results for the athletes.

After our loss to OBHS at the Caversham Relays, the Senior team was out for revenge. Each runner (Zac Mason, Finn Ward and Malachi Buschl) took time out of the opposition which meant that Drew Cairney had the advantage to hold off Nathan Hill. Drew did not relax and he ended up with the fastest time overall of 5:36 mins for just over 2km’s.

In the Junior race, which was held at the same time as the seniors, we were in a tight battle for the win against John McGlashan. The team ran as fast as they could and ended up in 2nd place. George Bates had the fastest time for a Junior boy of 6:00 mins.

The rest of the teams ran hard and gave themselves a good race before the individual race at the Otago Championships.
