X-Country Competition - Race 2

Grant Koedyk —

On Thursday the Cross Country runners headed to Milton for the Annual Otago/Southland Relays. We had 19 runners as some pulled out injured, meaning Flynn Haig had to run twice.

All the boys teams started at the same time and it was clear from the start that Wakatipu would be the team to beat. With King’s having five teams there was competition between each runner. Harry Mason (6:37), Patrick Ward (6:38) and Sam Cosgrove (6:36) chased each other around the 2km course, all finishing within seconds of each other.

In the team's events our Seniors finished 4th and the Juniors finished a well-placed 3rd. Our fastest Senior was George Bates who ran (6:01) for 2km’s and our fastest Junior was Harry Mason (6:37). Ezekiel Stewart (6:19), Spencer Gable (6:16) and Liam Condliffe (6:31) made solid debuts for the Senior A Relay Team, while Sam Larsen (7:22) and Harry McAslan (7:46) made a good start for the Junior A’s.

Overall, good results. Everyone was pleased to race before the Otago Individual and team's race next Thursday at Kaikorai Valley College.
