Prefect Reflections, Term 1 2022

Orlando Tuhega-Vaitupu —

What a term!

We have come to the conclusion of our first term for 2022.

It has been a bumpy, turbulent ride for all. We had the celebration of welcoming all, new and old to the Lions' Den, at the beginning of the year. For our Year 9 students, this would have been a new experience for them, starting a new chapter in their King’s High School life.

Due to the continuation of Covid disruptions, we started this year in the Red light setting, which added a few more complexities to how we operated at school, from wearing masks, to one way systems and to no spectators for sporting/cultural events.

Our Prefects this term have supported the Year 9’s in their camps, breaking up into groups, and tutoring them in the ways of the King's Men life.

We have also been a part of working with the Teachers in helping with duties around the school and during breaks.  Prefects as well as some Year 11’s also worked together to distribute hot cross buns around the school on Wednesday.

Today, the prefects organised a treasure hunt for the school to celebrate Easter and the end of term.  The prefects hid golden tickets around the school for students to find and if they were lucky enough to find one they received a chocolate egg. Various students searched eagerly to find these golden tickets, however, only 12 could be rewarded. Some students managed to find more than one!

Congratulations to George Harbour Yr 11, Dylan Pledger Yr 12, Billy Bezett Yr 12, Carlos Vaitupu Yr 12, Danny Moore Yr 11, Josh Maxwell Yr 13, Sam Larsen Yr 13 and Ryan Pariachi Yr 9.

We wish you a happy Easter and congratulate you for finishing Term 1.

We hope you have a well-deserved break and come back refreshed as we start Term 2.

Regards, Orlando Tuhega-Vaitupu, Head Boy
