On Wednesday, our team travelled to Milton to take part in the Otago-Southland Secondary Schools’ Relay hosted by Tokomairiro High School.
Conditions were favourable to running and the course was a great mixture of road and off-road with a couple of fence jumps to make. In spite of injuries and illness, the depth of our squad meant that we were able to take two senior teams and two junior teams.
A result of note was our top junior team which placed third in the boys’ race. There was a great battle between our top junior team and our top senior team which saw the lead in a mini-battle changing many times. Perhaps it was experience that won the day with the senior boys keeping an upset at bay by only nine seconds!
Well done to Joshua Scott (junior) and Alex MacDonald (senior) who were our top runners of the day.
We now look forward to the Otago Championships Individual Cross Country next week at Kaikorai Valley College.
