Production dates are the end of Term 2 Week 1. Rehearsals will be weekly to begin with and start soon. Lead roles are now set—Ethan Shaw-Wood as the lovable ogre Shrek, Ben Downing as the hilarious Donkey, Sofie Butson as the feisty Fiona, and Ethan Kuriger as the delightfully devious Lord Farquaad—Sara Georgie (Director).
Now, we need to get the cast. Whether you’re eager to take on a named role with singing and dialogue or prefer the thrill of being part of a vibrant ensemble of performers and dancers, there’s a place for you in this magical production.
Email Ms Dryden – dy@kingshigh.school.nz – or visit her in Room 26 if you’d like to give it a go, but missed last Monday’s meeting.
Any student who needs to leave school for an appointment must get an Exeat Pass from the Attendance Officer at the start of the school day. This can then be shown to the class teacher when the student needs to leave their class. A letter, email or phone call from the parent should be made to the Attendance Officer, preferably a day or two before the appointment. Upon returning to school the student should submit the Exeat card back to the Attendance Officer so that the student can be signed back in to school. Ministry Guidelines also prefer a medical note for all appointments held during school time so a reminder to ask for this at the conclusion of the appointment.
If you are interested in learning a musical instrument from scratch or wish to continue lessons on your instrument at school—either with one of the private tutors or through the King’s High School Itinerant Music Teachers Scheme—sign up for lessons HERE. It’s first come, first served, and numbers are limited for some instruments. If you need to hire an instrument, be quick! Returning students also need to sign up .
Practices for He Waka Kōtuia (King’s & Queen’s kapa haka group) are on Monday after school from 3-5pm in the Queen's High School Hall. All Queen's High School, King's High School, and Te Kura Poutama students from Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ōtepoti are welcome, no sign up required or experience needed. If your son missed the first practice, he is still welcome to join next week.
Nau mai, haere mai.
