Flint Sherborne-France highlining the evening light

This week, three King’s Boys competed in the Raglan Area NZ Schools Surf competition.
Our King's High School Surf Team made a great start to the NZ Schools Surf Champs. With only three members (Flint Sherborne-France, Kalani Summerton, Jack Higgins) up against teams of nine plus surfers it’s impossible to win as a team, but the boys have upset some North Island teams with their individual results so far.
With a six man heat format and priority on and off it wasn’t the normal competition we all expected. It was more like in the 80s & 90s for us old people who remember.
However, it’s run pretty well by the school pupils from the Raglan Surf Academy with a couple of teachers yelling instructions to them. Well done to the groms handling the pressure of competition management and organising it all.
Our boys easily advanced through early rounds with some great surfing. Kalani U14 and Jack U16 unfortunately didn’t find the waves in their quarterfinals in the big moving lineup.
Flint showed his size/power to out muscle the boys in the U14s and smash his quarters to advance to the semis. Good luck Flint!
The final results will be in next week’s King’s Week.
