RAW! has become one of the school's premier events, and Wednesday night was no exception. Coupled with the Arts Mentors Day, where experts in the creative industries work with selected students, the day and evening were a huge success.

The final of our Blues Assemblies was a large one with 32 students receiving a Blue for Winter Sports and two Academic Silvers being awarded for work completed throughout the year.

Kiringāua Cassidy and Te Kahurangi McLean went to Gisborne last week, with a small crew of supporters, to compete in the prestigious Ngā Manu Kōrero Nationals.

Our three esteemed mentors, David Elliot, Riki Gooch and Shay Dewey worked with students in the fields of Art, Music and Design & Film-making respectively.

This annual event is organised by the Otago University Chemistry Department and includes teams from schools around the Otago and Southland regions. Teams answer questions from Chemistry and general knowledge topics.

This year, the Jazz Band was privileged to be invited to provide entertainment at the Glenfalloch Night Garden, Otago’s premiere Spring celebration, where local artist’s creations are nestled within the Glenfalloch woodland’s landscape.

34 of King’s High School Junior Art students exhibited in this year’s Otago Art Society Youth Art Awards Exhibition. The artworks included; self-portrait paintings and mixed media, expressive woodblock prints, tile designs inspired by Polynesian patterns and symbols, and still-life paintings and drawings.

This week saw our students voting for the 2018 Student Trustee on the Board of Trustees. The student elected will be announced next term. Thanks to the Electoral Commission for all there help.
